Aloha Kona Marathon Running ‘Ohana,
As I am sure you are aware, the state of Hawaii has essentially been closed to travel without quarantine for months. Beginning October 15, visitors to most of the state of Hawaii will finally be able to forego the State of Hawaii’s mandatory 14-day quarantine by providing a valid negative COVID-19 test results up to 72 hours prior to arrival in Hawaii. The mayor of Hawaii Island is hoping to require a COVID-19 test upon arrival as well.
This progress allows businesses like hotels and events to start planning and moving forward again. As many of the furloughed workers start to fill their positions, we will once again be able to communicate and start solidifying travel partners and event plans for the 2021 Kona Marathon.
The Kona Marathon 2021 event date has been set for June 27th, 2021. There is much work to be done, but we wanted to assure you that we are working on creating an even greater experience than in the past. The Kona Marathon has a tradition of providing a truly Hawaii experience and we look forward to returning to that and more shortly.
The event is obviously subject to the health and safety guidelines of the CDC and local government but is moving forward to set the stage for a great return to racing. Please be assured that we will have guidelines in place to support a healthy run in 2021.
We will be updating you shortly. Please stand by as we get set for a new year.
The Kona Marathon team wishes you a healthy fall and looks forward to welcoming you back to our shores for our event. Stay safe and wash your hands!
