27th ANNUAL UCC COFFEE KONA MARATHON SLATED FOR JUNE 21, 2025
Kona, Hawaii – Excitement is brewing as the 27th Annual UCC Coffee Kona Marathon is debuting a new race course along picturesque Alii Drive this June.
The iconic marathon will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025 with a new headquarters hotel too—Royal Kona Resort and Spa, located in Historic Kailua Village.
The 2025 Kona Marathon races will include the marathon (26.2 miles), Kona Half Marathon (13.1 miles), Kona Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) and Kona 5K (3.1 miles) race.
A Health & Fitness Fair is planned leading up to the marathon.
New Race Course and Finish Line
The 2025 UCC COFFEE KONA MARATHON travels through the heart of Historic Kailua Village and back along scenic Alii Drive. This racecourse will enjoy flats as well as a few rolling hills along the route.
The Marathon starts at 5:30 am, Half Marathon at 6:00 am, 5K at 6:45 am and the Quarter Marathon at 7:00 am.
The course is both runner and walker friendly with a slew of aid stations. Aid stations will be located every 1 to 1.5 miles. Water, electrolytes, and ice will be at the aid stations with energy shots and energy bars for the marathon and half marathon participants at select aid stations.
UCC COFFEE KONA MARATHON
The Marathon begins at the Royal Kona Resort on Ali’i Drive and heads north toward the Kailua Pier in the makai (oceanside) lane. Once runners reach the pier and up toward Kuakini Highway, the course proceeds left (north) on Kuakini, passing the Kona Community Aquatics Center and moving toward the end of the Old Airport Park (Makaeo). Runners will then turn around and return to the Royal Kona Resort along the same course.
At the Royal Kona Resort, marathoners will continue south on Ali’i Drive toward Keauhou and the Keauhou Shopping Center. Just prior to the shopping center, runners will turn around and head north again toward the Kona Pier. Runners will turn at the pier and complete their first loop by returning south again toward the Royal Kona Resort. This loop, which starts and finishes in front of the Royal Kona Resort on Ali’I Drive will be completed twice before finishing at the Royal Kona Resort Finish Line.
The Marathon racecourse will close after 7 hours.
UCC COFFEE KONA HALF MARATHON
The Half Marathon begins at the Royal Kona Resort on Ali’i Drive and heads north toward the Kailua Pier in the makai (oceanside) lane. Once runners reach the pier and head up towards Kuakini Highway. The course proceeds left (north) on Kuakini passing the Kona Community Aquatics Center and towards the end of the Old Airport Park (Makaeo). Runners will turn around and return to the Royal Kona Resort along the same course.
At the Royal Kona Resort runners will proceed South on Ali’I Drive until making their turn around near Kahalu’u Beach Park. Upon returning North on Ali’i Drive runners will finish at the Royal Kona Resort.
UCC COFFEE KONA QUARTER MARATHON
The Quarter Marathon begins at the Royal Kona Resort on Ali’i Drive and heads north toward the Kailua Pier in the makai (oceanside) lane. Once runners reach the pier they will continue up towards Kuakini Highway. The course proceeds left (north) on Kuakini passing the Kona Community Aquatics Center and toward the Old Airport Park (Makaeo). Runners will turn around just prior to entering the Old Airport Park runway area and return to the Royal Kona Resort along the same route in reverse.
At the Royal Kona Resort, athletes will continue south on Ali’I Drive until their specified quarter turnaround sign and will finish proceeding north to the Royal Kona Resort Finish Line.
UCC COFFEE KONA 5K
The 5K begins at the Royal Kona Resort on Ali’i Drive and heads North towards the Kailua Pier in the makai (Oceanside) lane. Once runners reach the pier they will continue up towards Kuakini Highway. The course proceeds left (north) on Kuakini passing the Kona Community Aquatics Center and toward the Old Airport Park. Athletes will turn just prior to entering the Old Airport Park runway area and return to the Royal Kona Resort along the same route in reverse. Athletes will return to the Royal Kona Resort and finish under the arch.

Health and Fitness Fair
The Health and Fitness Fair is free and open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, June 20 at the Royal Kona Resort.
Packet pickup and late registration will be at the Health and Wellness Fair. Registered participants will need a photo ID to pick up race numbers, timing chip and event bag.

Rollover Athletes
If you’ve signed up for a previous Kona Marathon that got cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, you can roll over your entry into the 2025 marathon or if your 2025 schedule doesn’t mesh, rollover into 2026.
